Healing Day Schedule for a Black Woman Fighting Cancer

7:30 AM – Wake Up Slowly
Don’t rush. Sit up slowly, sip warm water or herbal tea with honey and lemon. Stretch your arms and whisper an affirmation: “I welcome peace and strength today.”

8:00 AM – Morning Light & Prayer Meditation
Sit by a window or go outside for a few minutes. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and picture healing light flowing through your body. Pray or meditate quietly.

8:30 AM – Gentle Breakfast
Choose something light and soothing — oatmeal, fruit, or toast. Play soft music while you eat. No screens, no rushing.

9:30 AM – Rest or Journal Time
Lay back in your soft space. Write a few thoughts in your journal: how you feel, one thing you’re grateful for, and one thing you’re releasing today.

11:00 AM – Comfort & Connection
Call or text a friend, sister, or prayer partner. Keep it light and loving — just a check-in. You don’t have to talk about cancer unless you want to.

12:30 PM – Nourishing Lunch
Eat something gentle — soup, smoothie, or salad. Light a candle or say grace before you eat to remind yourself that your body deserves nourishment.

1:30 PM – Nap or Quiet Time
Put your phone on silent. Wrap up in your blanket, turn on calming sounds, and let yourself drift. Even if you don’t sleep, rest your eyes and your spirit.

3:30 PM – Gentle Movement
Stand up, roll your shoulders, stretch, or do a short walk inside your home. If your body says no, sway your arms while seated; it still counts.

4:00 PM – Comfort Basket Break
Open your comfort basket. Use lotion on your hands, sip tea, smell something soothing, or flip through a magazine.

5:30 PM – Light Dinner & Gratitude
Eat a small, comforting meal. Before bed, write down three gentle things: one thing that went right, one thing you’re thankful for, and one thing you forgive yourself for.

7:00 PM – TV, Music, or Silence
Watch something that makes you smile or listen to music that reminds you of home. Avoid anything stressful.

8:30 PM – Evening Reflection
Pray, journal, or speak affirmations like “My body and spirit are healing, even when I rest.”

9:00 PM – Bedtime Wind-Down
Turn off screens. Rub your feet with oil or lotion. Listen to calming sounds as you drift to sleep, knowing you’ve honored your body and spirit today.

I’m Cynthia

Welcome to Melanin & Pink Ribbons: A Blog for Black Women Fighting and Surviving Breast Cancer. It was born out of my personal journey as a patient not seeing very many images of women who looked like me fighting this disease. So, when I became a survivor, I did something about it. This is a space to learn and become empowered with information so we as a community can thrive into survivorship.
