Dr. Martin Luther Kings Legacy

Although Dr. King never spoke specifically on breast cancer in 1963 in his book Strength to Love he noted ” We must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope.” If we take this an apply it to a breast cancer diagnosis he is telling us, imploring us that our hope carries us through our treatment to a life beyond breast cancer. Having hope is an exercise of our faith and we can’t have too much of that as fighters and survivors of breast cancer. So, lets follow his wise word and lean into hope!

Welcome to Melanin & Pink Ribbons: A Blog for Black Women Fighting and Surviving Breast Cancer. It was born out of my personal journey as a patient not seeing very many images of women who looked like me fighting this disease. So, when I became a survivor, I did something about it. This is a space to learn and become empowered with information so we as a community can thrive into survivorship.
