Juneteenth & Breast Cancer Awareness: Liberation Is in Our Healing

As we celebrate Juneteenth—our day of freedom, resilience, and revolutionary love—we also uplift another radical act: taking charge of our health.

For Black communities, especially Black women, raising awareness about breast cancer isn’t just a health issue—it’s a liberation issue.

Early detection. Access to care. Sharing our stories. Demanding equity.

These are revolutionary acts.

This Juneteenth, let’s honor the strength of our ancestors by breaking generational silence around breast health. Let’s make wellness part of our freedom work.

Healing is resistance. Awareness is power. Survival is revolutionary.

Welcome to Melanin & Pink Ribbons: A Blog for Black Women Fighting and Surviving Breast Cancer. It was born out of my personal journey as a patient not seeing very many images of women who looked like me fighting this disease. So, when I became a survivor, I did something about it. This is a space to learn and become empowered with information so we as a community can thrive into survivorship.
