How is Triple Negative Breast Cancer Treated?

I wish I had good news on this topic but it’s pretty tough topic. There is no specific treatment protocol but on the bright side a patient can have a combination of:

  • Surgery
  • Chemotherapy
  • Radiation

When the tumor is less than 2 centimeters chemotherapy is usually given first to shrink the size of the tumor. Women are surviving TNBC and as medicine advances and more research is done it improves survival rates.

Because TNBC is so aggressive we must become more diligent in our breast screenings and BSE (Breast Self-Exam) so it can be discovered as soon as possible.  This is strong reason to promote early detection saves lives.

Welcome to Melanin & Pink Ribbons: A Blog for Black Women Fighting and Surviving Breast Cancer. It was born out of my personal journey as a patient not seeing very many images of women who looked like me fighting this disease. So, when I became a survivor, I did something about it. This is a space to learn and become empowered with information so we as a community can thrive into survivorship.
