Chemotherapy can wreak havoc on the body. There are short-term side effects and long-term side effects, this post is about the former.
Short-Term Side Effect What can be Done for Relief
| Hair loss all over the body | Cut off hair to maintain control or wear a hat, scarf or wig can be worn |
| Nausea | Medication |
| Vomiting | Medication |
| Diarrhea | Eat small meals and ad potassium-rich foods |
| Fingernail and or toenail changes | Cut them short during treatment |
| Nerve and or muscle pain | Pain reliever from a doctor can be given |
| Fatigue | A good night’s sleep or a shot walk can energize you |
| Constipation | Eat fiber-rich food, increase your liquids or take a laxative |
No matter what the symptom, talk to your medical care team and you will be advised of the best relief for you. Thankfully these are short-term and usually end when treatment ends. Remember the end game is survival.
