Let’s Show our Female Military we Care

In preparation for Memorial Day on Monday, May 30th, it’s important to understand the meaning of the day. The History Channel notes Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the US military. Many of us have the military in our family, church, friend circle, and other walks of life. Let’s all honor the military that walks among us and reach out to an active or retired military personnel and remind her to have her mammogram! Let us be proactive and impactful to our female military community and show them they are valued. This post is dedicated to my beloved Aunt Denise Hicks retired Air Force and Denise James active Army. Remind her to get that mammogram because early detection saves lives!

Welcome to Melanin & Pink Ribbons: A Blog for Black Women Fighting and Surviving Breast Cancer. It was born out of my personal journey as a patient not seeing very many images of women who looked like me fighting this disease. So, when I became a survivor, I did something about it. This is a space to learn and become empowered with information so we as a community can thrive into survivorship.
